Costa Del Mar

Known for their sporty sunglasses and the overall adventurous flair of their sunwear, Costa Del Mar offer shades created from bio-resin. Using bio-based resin instead of petroleum-based resin reduces emissions and the overall carbon footprint.

Two of their most popular sunglasses made from bio-resin are the Fantail, made especially for watersports like fishing or whatever your preference is, and the Rincon – an oversized style inspired by the California surfing culture. Both these pairs are available with polarized lenses.

Stella McCartney

In a Q&A on her brand’s site, McCartney talks about her commitment to an eco-friendly philosophy:

The greatest challenge was the amount of time that was spent on research and testing to get the best quality product possible with the highest performance in terms of resistance, while still maintaining the style and finish we always try to achieve. The eyewear collection is now made using bio-acetate composed of over 50% natural sources which I am very proud of.

The product’s formula combines cellulose, the most common organic compound on Earth, which is renewable and biodegradable, together with natural plasticizers, which differ from DEP (Diethyl Phthalate), as they derive from citric acid, a natural substance obtained through a fermentation process.

And a big portion of the Stella McCartney eyewear collection is crafted from bio-acetate. A frame one of our staff members recommend you should get to look as stylish as can be in 2023 is the Stella McCartney SC0027O, which definitely shows off with its bold browline and sleek metal accents.

Botaniq

A brand that puts a big emphasis on making their glasses as recyclable as possible, handcrafted from bio-based acetate as well as other recycled materials or naturally sourced materials like wood and bamboo, also giving their glasses a natural look and feel.

And it’s not just the front and temples of the frame – the hinges, metal accents and nose pads are all recyclable.

Two Botaniq pairs you should definitely check out are the BIO-1010, which features a modern design complemented with finely laminated natural wood temples, and the BIO-1026, which exudes a unique vintage flair to go hand in hand with its eco-friendly craftsmanship.

SeaClean

This is a GlassesUSA.com exclusive, offering eyeglass and sunglass frames from upcycled plastic. The frames are made almost entirely from recycled plastic polymers, but it’s not just the frames – the fabric bag the glasses come in and its cleaning cloth are also recyclable.

SeaClean is available in a number of chic styles both as eyeglasses and sunglasses: The Osprey, a trendy and round frame with a scholarly charm; and the Cormorant, that adds a bit more flair to the classic round look with unique translucent colors and sleek metal accents.

Fenz

Fenz glasses are handcrafted with creativity, innovation and eco-sustainability in mind, using premium materials and in line with sustainable development guidelines for reduced environmental effect.

The Fenz Pinot are unique prescription-eligible sunglasses, flaunting a snazzy round style crafted from mahogany wood and cork. The Fenz Valtellina offers a more cutting-edge style, made out of birch wood and carbon fiber. Their glasses also come in a cork-made foldable case.

Revel

A growing chunk of our Revel collection is dedicated to more eco-friendly materials, while maintaining the fresh, sporty vibe of these popular frames. Even better – they’re all eligible for any prescription lens, including progressives.

The Revel Crunch Time is a sleek and modern pair crafted from high-grade bio-acetate, which if we didn’t mention before, is much better for our planet. The Revel Coady is another already-popular bio-acetate frame, displaying a more retro, scholarly look. Another contemporary Revel style is the Revel Sidestep, available in a variety of colors including yellow, clear-green, and translucent all over.
