Top List for the week of December 7, 2008

Some time has settled after the 2008 Presidential election, so now is a GREAT time to to highlight U.S. politicians with the coolest glasses ... according to me.

Top 11 U.S. politicians with the COOLEST eye glasses

11: Colin Powell (R)- the former Secretary of State is known for having the rare ability to speak in Yiddish but his rimless eyeglasses are what REALLY caught my eye. Slim and sleek- they show he's all business!

10: Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)- as the first elected female senator from Minnesota, Klobuchar was cited by the New York Times as being one of 17 female politicians who could likely be the first female President of the United States. Her rimless eyeglasses hold no borders and capture her strong image!

9: Michael Steele (R)- the former lieutenant governor of Maryland was the first African-American to serve in a state-wide office in his state! Now as the Chairman of the GOPAC (Republican Political Action Committee) lets the world see how serious he can be with his no-holds barred rimless eye wear.

8: Al Franken (D-MN)- best known for his work on Saturday Night Live and his political satire, Franken ran for Senate in Minnesota in the 2008 election with his trademark eyeglass frames close at hand, reminding voters of his personality.

7: Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL)- currently holding the title of "most senior republican in U.S. Congress," she also plays a prominent role in Cuban lobbying! She rarely shies away from a photo and always looks so comfortable in her eye wear!

6: Eric Cantor (R-VA)- one of the youngest (and hottest) Congressmen, Cantor has risen to fame- with glasses in hand- not just with his views but also with his boyish good looks!

5: Jennifer Granholm (D-MI)- the Canadian-born, U.S.-raised governor was once a San Jose beauty queen and a contestant on The Dating Game. Now she leads Michigan with her powerful stance in her full rimmed eyeglasses.

4: Keith Ellison (D-MN)- as the first Muslim to be voted into Congress, Ellison has travelled the world meeting with various dignitaries like Shimon Peres and Fouad Siniora - all while looking stylishly cool in his semi rimless eyeglasses.

3: Barbara Boxer (D-CA)- as one of the first two Jewish women elected to the Senate, Boxer is well known for her liberal stances and for her stylish wardrobe! Her trademark glasses are just an accessory to her impeccable clothing!

Ok... so we had some trouble coming up with a top spot, so spots 1 and 2 are tied!

2: Barack Obama (D)- we'll admit, someone in the office has a little crush on our President Elect but really only when he wears glasses or sunglasses!

1: Sarah Palin (R-AK)- she may not have won the race but Sarah Palin's vast collection of eye glasses have made her a hit! Her rimless eyeglasses have sold-out in stores and retailers are scrambling to get her eye wear in the door as soon as possible. She is definitely an eye wear trend-setter!
