Ever had a craving for sushi or Chinese food but don’t like the wooden chopsticks? Ever received food delivery from your local Asian restaurant only to realize they didn’t give you any chopsticks? Have no fear - chopstick eyeglasses are here. Yeah, you read right - chopstick eyeglasses. Stix Glasses came out as early as 2008 with an unconventional idea - eat your food on the go and store your utensils in your eyewear.

It’s an unconventional idea for glasses and non-traditional idea for food utensils. They may come in handy in the airport when you can’t bring traditional forks and knives on the plane with you. You can always pull out the chop sticks to eat your favorite snacks on board but what do you do about sanitation and making sure you don’t get random food stuck in your glasses?

As written above, the sticks are a great idea for travel purposes on trains and planes but can they really be functional and fashionable past that? They are very eco-friendly and quite “green”. They make a great place to stash sticks for putting your hair up in a bun. However, as traditional prescription glasses go, we’re not so convinced so we took to the streets of Manhattan to ask people what they thought of this idea.

Mary Johnson, 32, of New York, told us “the concept is cool but I’d be afraid to get mold or something caught in the holders.” Frank Rubenstein, 57, of New Jersey, agreed with the sanitary issue but thought the idea was “innovative where prescription eyeglasses are concerned. Not much as been done to reinvent the eyeglass frame. At least they tried!”

Indeed, Frank, at least they tried.
