Many women today wear glasses as a way to top off their wardrobe by using frames as an accessory. Some of us actually need vision care correction, so we wear our glasses out of necessity. Regardless of WHY you may wear your glasses, women all over the world struggle with one thing: how can I put on makeup that will look good with my glasses? This short tutorial will explain how to properly put on your makeup without looking like a clown or without looking too homely.

First and foremost - make sure all of your make up matches your skin tone! You don't want to look a little too light or a little too orange just because your make up does not match your face. Secondly, be sure to start with a clean and moisturized face. Why? Eyeglasses tend to magnify the fine little lines around our eyes. A properly moisturized face will help prevent the little lines from showing. Note: don't start putting your makeup on until after your moisturizer is dry - trust me, it's better this way - it'll keep your make up from sliding off.

Start with a primer, tinted moisturizer, or foundation. Blend the make up in so you don't see any lines or shades of demarcation. You can use a brush, a sponge or your hands to do this- I recommend a sponge, it's the easiest method for putting foundation on. If you're using a powdered foundation, be sure to use it sparingly - start with a little because you can always add more.

Next, move on to a concealer to cover up dark circles or any marks under the eye. This is important for anyone wearing prescription glasses because sometimes lenses will magnify the circles or make them worse by adding a dark shadow to the eyes.

The next step is to find your eyeshadow - I prefer cream shadow as it doesn't flake or drop powder onto the face. It glides on and seals pretty well. If you're using a cream shadow kit, choose a lighter color- perhaps a beige or nude color - for the base of your eye. Apply the lighter color along the eyelid before moving on to a darker color which will be blended into the crease of your eye. Want a longer lasting look? Add powdered shadow on top of the cream shadow to set the shadow.

The hardest part will be lining the eye. You want to dramatize the eye so add slightly more eyeliner than you normally would. You want your eyes to pop from under your glasses so you can use a liquid liner or a kohl pencil to line the eyes. I prefer a powder liner with a liner brush dipped in water. It allows me more control and it allows me to smudge the line or keep it straight and neat.

The next step is mascara - choose an mascara that won't irritate your eyes. As much as I love waterproof - it often flakes and drops into my eyes causing irritation. Choose a moisturizing mascara. If your eyes are naturally watery, I would suggest a waterproof mascara or a long-lasting mascara that won't seep into your eyes.

The last two steps are easy: blush and a highlighter. Lightly sweep a pale pink or peach blush onto the apples of your cheeks and lightly brush it back. Then, take a shimmery pink highlighter and brush it on top of your cheekbones and slightly across your nose. Remember to dust it on, not use your brush like a steamroller.

There you have it! Wearing prescription eyeglasses has never looked better!
