No one wants to look older - unless of course you’re a preteen! But how can we stray from it when there’s an age-old saying that glasses make you look older?!? Do eyeglasses actually make you look older? Or is it just a trick of the eye?

After a study done in the UK, it was actually recorded that the average person perceives someone who is wearing glasses to be roughly 3.3 years older than they really are.

The Bad News: Again. Who. Wants. To. Be. Made. Older?

The Good News: Hey, it’s only three years, right!?

So where is this perception coming from?? One common assumption for the average glasses-wearer is that they are more intelligent - with a wise eye, so to speak. What do you think when you hear the word "wisdom"? Duh, an owl of course! But quickly thereafter the old saying: "wisdom comes with age". So, this could be the culprit as to why our prescription eyeglasses age us...?

Well, we’ve taken a poll, and after a lot of checking around, it’s been decided that glasses don’t age you at all! While they do tend to make you look smarter - which, we’re definitely not complaining about - typically they really have no effect whatsoever on your age. With this said however, it does sometimes depend on the glasses frames you choose! For a younger, more modern look try to stay with the thick plastic frames of today’s Retro-style fashion! Always remember to have fun with funky styles of bright and bold colors. If you want a more toned-down version of your younger, smarter look, check out a sleek pair of rimless or simple metal frames! They will give you that added hint of intelligence - without adding on the years!
